Daily Quote: "The most important single central fact about a free market is that no exchange takes place unless both parties benefit."
Milton Friedman
I've never been an activist but since Obama has taken office and I've been watching Glenn Beck, I'm afraid that when Obama is finished we won't recognize the United States we have known and love. I've never attended a Tea Party but plan to on July 4th. I have gotten so I email my Senators and Congressman, something I have never done before. I have been trying to find out who in my part of the state is having a Tea Party. I hope that we can make a difference. I feel as though we have never known what goes on in Washington, I think all of them up there are crooks, except Sen. Jim DeMint, I think he is a good man. I hope he doesn't disappoint me like Mark Sanford. When I heard that news, I could have cried, I thought he had morals and ideals. I guess I was wrong
I heard a woman today on the radio that said that Obama is a puppet and that there are some real rich and powerful people behind him. That is something that I have thought for a long time. Some how I think that this has been in the planning for a long time and they pulled it off with help from ACORN and other groups. Lord help us! We really need his help now!

Thanks for getting involved and posting your comments. I share many concerns on our governement today. I believe the issue we need to deal with is corruption of our elected officials by those around Washington (PACs, etc.) pursuing special interests. They have money and they use it in many ways, either to tempt, coerce or attack our elected officials. Even a good and honest man has weaknesses which may be exploited and may cause him/her to turn from the principles which may have led him to seek the office. In todays environment, I can't imagine a good man even considering a run for a public office because of all the attacks which will be aimed against him/her and family. And, of course, there are those who seek the office for other than the desire to serve the electorate. We should limit their opportunity to wreak havock.
My opinion on how to fix this: 1). Establish strict term limits for Senators and Representatives and 2). make/establish laws which strictly regulate PACs and their activities. Also, regulate campaigns for office. At present, the process is a sham.
No more career politicians. We need people in office who have a clue of what the average citizen is experiencing. Limit retirement for service to actual years of service (401k contributions instead of full retirement for having served one term as it is now). Put elected officials on Social Security. Send them to jail if they take advantage of their position for personal of family gain or etc.
No more contribuitions by PACs to election campaign chests. Only personal funds and single individual contributions should be allowed for campaign funding. Limit funding to a small dollar amount so even a poor man's contribution will be meaningful. This will also lead to a significant reduction in the amount of money spent on campaigns - which, as I expect many will agree, has led to much of the largess and distortion of the messages from those supporting campaigns and those wanting to smear candidates.
No foreign government or other foreign involvement in PACs allowed!
Something obviously needs to be done to have fair media coverage of candidates and campaign ads. We need to keep the free press. I believe though our press isn't "free" today. Not sure what needs to be done, but getting the money out of the hands of special interests will be helpful to limit the kind of sham experienced today.
I'd also like to see voting hours extended to more than just one day. I think it should extend over a 4 or perhaps a 7 day period. I believe photo IDs should be required. Please, this is not to be confused as a desire for a national ID which I'm dead set against.
I could go on and on. But, I hope all understand where I'm coming from from the brief comments above..

I have to concure that term limits, etc are a good idea, however I firmly believe we need to become an active peaceful resistance movement. We need to go where Obama is EVERY DAY and get in his face. We should not let this man go anywhere in the country without at least 5 thousand people protesting his appearance. We need to make him hear us every day.
We need to confront any high ranking official who makes a public appearance. We need to go to every public hearing on changes to the Code of Federal Regulation and get in the face of the officials. Protest all public officials who support the administration.
The time for rallies every 3 months is over. We need action to stop this mobster every day.
